While he is now working on a album of ballads, Hyim is a California Music Awards nominee, has been a Yamaha sponsored, and internationally touring artist. Born in San Francisco on a commune, Hyim was raised in Oakland and has traveled the world. Hence, he calls his music Urban World Beat. His recent CD, named after his band: Hyim and the Fat Foakland Orchestra, has been critically acclaimed, receiving 5 for 5 stars from Owl Magazine. The album also earned Hyim KFOG’s Local Scene Artist for 2005. Hyim not only plays keys, guitar, arranges, produces, and sings this new skool dance music, he is also writing film scores, award winning ballads, and theatrical musicals. Additionally, Hyim practices what he preaches in his lyrics. In February of last year, Hyim chained himself to a bench and staged a 5 day fast and vigil for peace, asking for more support for our schools and children in general. As Relix magazine put it: "Hyim's music holds a rare gravity, & it is clear that he possesses a grand vision." This vision stretches far beyond just the artistic, and Hyim seems to just be getting started bringing his vision into fruition.
